Josh was raised by his mother and grandparents and came from humble beginnings. His mother worked three jobs just to put food on the table and make ends meet. Josh spent most of his childhood playing sports, and bumming rides from coaches to get to games and practices. With a childhood full of broken promises, feelings of abandonment, and lack of direction, Josh represents one constant, and that is the faithfulness of a God who is ever compassionate and loving.
At the age of 14, Josh and His family moved to a new community where he would eventually attend AC Reynolds High School, there his team won the4A football State Championship. He did accomplish His dream of playing college ball (which made his mother happy), getting a football scholarship to Mars Hill College, a small division II School. Josh had no idea that God was about to change his life through a span of events that involved Godly friends, shattered dreams, and taking risks. It was in Josh’s college years that God allowed his idols to be torn down (women, football, and himself) leaving a sense of brokenness and despair. Josh learned that God often shows his beauty in the midst of brokenness, and began to sense an unusual call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Josh currently lives in the inner city of Charlotte, NC, where he runs a non profit called The Abandon Project, and acts as a mentor to over 60 kids. Josh spends his free time by dumping buckets of hope on kids in his area who have no father figures. Josh enjoys basketball, hanging out with kids, throwing water balloons, hiking, Georgia Bulldogs football, hearing peoples’ stories, running, and taking walks. He has spoken to students and churches all over the world and hopes to continue doing so. Josh believes ministry takes place off the stage, and loves hanging out with kids more than he does being in the lime light. He has a unique ability to filter the bible through the life of Jesus, and is interested in seeing students live out their faith, and walk daily with Jesus.
